South Korea is a powerhouse in the entertainment scene. Their export titles are well-loved globally, and dominate the local scene. As a result, very few foreign titles make an actual impact in the nation.
With cyber spying, unauthorized surveillance, unstoppable hacking, and social fatigue extremely prevalent in South Korea, falling off the grid or becoming digitally untraceable (the major theme of the title) is increasingly appealing.
Instead of competing on the entertainment front, we decided to tap into Surveillance culture, one of the most controversial talking points in South Korea media to introduce the nation to the premise of the title.
Tech was used as the primary medium for storytelling – We measured emotions (fear and paranoia) by introducing groundbreaking Neural Network algorithms in a traditional OOH media, creating an installation that is informative and interactive while staying relevant to the culture.
Advanced visual search engines were deployed in the microsite and radical visual execution techniques like pixel-sorting were used to mask users from online searches.
I led a team of 7 engineers and designers across Singapore, Tokyo and Shanghai offices.
